Ronald Shoemaker
Cleveland Tour
Senior Snead Flight
At 70 years of age, Ronald Shoemaker has had many opportunities in life to experience things he is passionate about. The Golf Channel Am Tour gives Ron the chance to take 2 of those likes and combine them together for a very enjoyable experience. Ron combines his love for traveling around the country in his recreational vehicle and his golfing passion to compete on not only the Cleveland tour, which is his home tour, but because of his equidistance to both the Columbus and Pittsburgh tours as well, he enjoys the best of all 3 tours on his yearly schedule. His year thus far has demonstrated his want for travel as he has won 3 events, one on each of the 3 tours he has played on.
Of Ron's 3 victories this year, Longaberger on the Columbus schedule is one of his favorite courses to play. He has won twice there in both of his seasons on tour. He also attributes Little Mountain Golf Club on the Cleveland Tour and Olde Stonewall on the Pittsburgh tour as other favorite stops he likes to compete at.
He has also had great success at the Majors this year as he finished 2nd at the Swan Lake Major in Indiana and took 3rd place at the recent Greenbrier Open Major, which qualifies him for the 2011 Senior National Championship in September.
Ronald Shoemaker is what the Am Tour is all about as he travels the country playing courses that he says he "would never have a chance to play otherwise if it were not for the Am Tour." "Where else can you play TPC Sawgrass, Old White TPC at the Greenbrier, and get a chance to visit the Golf Hall of Fame at World Golf Village while playing in St. Augustine " he states. So if you see Ron down the road in his recreational vehicle please stop by and say "hi", because he will surely be on another wonderful golfing adventure.
